Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Is there any preventative measures against serious health issues?

>Hi Linda,
I live the same fears as you do everyday. I was just telling someone
today now sometimes I lay beside my babies and rub them to sleep and
think about how one day they will not be here. I end up crying thru
those thoughts, but also quickly realize that there is no way to run
from it or avoid it, so the most we can possibly do is love them and
cherish each and every day we get with them. Ferrets do tend to
vulverable to many more diseases then some other animals, but it
seems that most are controlable and in some cases, curable. I have
been faced with a few issues including Adrenal Disease and Lymphoma
so far, but all my babies are still alive and functioning fine. The
only advice I can give you is to love them with all you have, which
it seems you are already doing and thank God that he gave you an
opportunity to share in such a wonderful experience with such a
beautiful creature. I like to believe that one day when my time
comes, each and every baby I ever lost will be waiting for me and
full of love, affection, hugs and licks. I think its those thoughts
that help me get thru the sad ones. Think positive and try to push
those terrible thoughts so they do not eat you up inside. You must
remember that most people will come here for help in reference to a
bad or sad situation and will need guidance from the rest, so most of
what you will read will seem bad, but I can assure you that each and
every person here can share at least a few hundred stories of all the
wonderful moments and experiences they have had and treasured since
there babies came to be. Keep your chin up, and know support is
around the corner when you need it. Not everything is going to be
curable, but many things can, like in humans and other living
creatures around us.
Irene
