I doubt that scented candles would hurt much. But if the smoke smell is there, then so is
the smoke, and that can certainly hurt the ferrets, whether the odor is covered up or not.
Maybe some sort of air filter is a better option. You can often find used hepa types in the
goodwill. Those ones that use water are also quite good. Avon sells one just like the
homedics brethe (but with smaller reservoir capacity and no included essential oils) for
much cheaper. My Avon lady tells me that an upcoming outlet catalog has them for
something like $25. Only problem, you can't run over the weekend or so, as the water
needs replenishing every--oh--8-10 hours with continouos use.
