Subject: [ferrethealth] Ferret showing two (probably unrelated) symptoms
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hello everyone,
I come looking for advice this time for my 7 year old female,
Phoebe, who has two different problems going on.

The first is tooth-grinding and loss of appetite. I know the
immediate red-flag there is stomach ulcers. However, we've had her
on 2x daily Pepto Bismul and then switched to Carafate 3x a day,
(about 45 mins. before food), and have been spoon feeding her Gerber
chicken baby food with a tiny bit of blended up kibble mixed in (and
a vitamin supplement on the side) for weeks now and her tooth-
grinding hasn't subsided, nor has her appetite come back. In fact we
have to syringe feed her sometimes because she even refuses to be
spoon fed her "soup". She has been drinking a normal amount of
water, though, and her poop looks normal (not off-colored, not runny
or tarry).

Next, she has a small round, pimple-like bump on her head. It's
raised and flesh-colored, and less than 1/4 inch in diameter, and
hairless. It does NOT look like an insect bite. She had two like
this before (a few months from each other), both were on her back
near her tail, but they got smaller and disappeared after a week or
so. Just wondering if this is a common thing or what it might be.
They don't seem to irritate or hurt her at all. Can ferrets just get
pimples? Because that's really what it looks like.

Any advice appreciated,
~Emily and the kids (Phoebe, Bailey, Lily, and Linus)
