I suspect this topic has the potential to get a little heated, but I would like to gently note that if you've never lived with a single ferret, then you are not qualified to make authoritative statements about the lives of single ferrets. Seeing them after they come to a shelter is not an adequate view into their lives under normal, stable conditions with loving, responsible owners.
And as always with ferrets, what works perfectly for one household under one set of circumstances may not work well or at all for another household under another set of circumstances.
