My little male rescue of about 3-4 yrs old had chronic diarrhea for about two weeks.I took him to a ferret specialist and first got treatment for the usual g.i. probs. After two weeks of meds he was no better. Tests for coccidia came back neg. and other blood work appeared normal. We then went to possible allergies so I started him on Hill's KD.He got a LITTLE better, some of the poohs started forming occasionally. After three more weeks and watching him lose his appetite, get weak and continue with the diarrhea, we decided to do exploratory surgery. Two days prior to surgery he began strange movements with his back legs and on the day of surgery he could not stand up.These were ALL the symptoms this little boy showed.

Post op results......right adrenal tumor. Also due to a low blood glucose result before surgery the removed the gastric side of the pancreases.

Biopsies were sent and they came back benign adrenal tumor and no sign of insulinoma.

We all were shocked by the tumor since he had none of the normal symptoms. So I guess you have to be very alert to the changes that you may see in your critters and ALWAYS go with your gut feeling if you think something isn't right. My little guy didn't appear sick to anyone but me.I am glad that I just didn't let this go. He is still not well, he has lost the back use of his legs, why nobody seems to know, but he is still with me.
