Subject: [ferrethealth] Protein deficiency
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Hi all,
I need some help. I have a 4 year old ferret named Piggy. About 3 and
a half years ago, he became ill. After lots of tests we deduced that
he had IBD. He was put on prednisolone(once a day) and carafate(3
times a day).
Piggy has his blood glucose checked every 3 months. In October, his
count was 75 (usually his is in the 90s). The vet increasesd his pred
(syrup) from .1 to .12.
He went to the vet about a week ago for his blood glucose and a blood
panel. His blood glucose is normal. The vet said she is concerned
because his protein level is low. She specifically is concerned about
insulinoma.
His coat is very healthy and soft, he's bright eyed, eating fine,
weighs more than ever and very active. Piggy appears very healthly,
but...
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Nicole
