Subject: [ferrethealth] Protein deficiency
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
I"m a little confused.. You said his BG is normal, but she said his protein values are low, and she is worried about insulinoma - with normal BG.. would someone please educate me. What does protein have to do with insulinoma?

Hi all,
I need some help. I have a 4 year old ferret named Piggy. About 3 and
a half years ago, he became ill. After lots of tests we deduced that
he had IBD. He was put on prednisolone(once a day) and carafate(3
times a day).
He went to the vet about a week ago for his blood glucose and a blood
panel. His blood glucose is normal. The vet said she is concerned
because his protein level is low. She specifically is concerned about
insulinoma.
Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Nicole
