Subject: RE: [ferrethealth] one leg lameness in rear, no break on xray..what's wrong?
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

I had this just a few months ago and you need to get him into a vet right away. There is actually nothing wrong with the leg, it is his way of telling you there is something wrong somewhere else. When mine did it, I got a few stupid answers from different vets and in the end, she had lymphoma. The vet who diagnosed this did blood work, xrays, and finally an ultra sound to determine what was wrong. They did need to go a little deeper after that, but at least they had a good idea what they were after. I do not want to worry you too much yet because the vet told me that it could be as simple as an infection that is inside or his spleen has enlarged. They will have to take a look at it, but ferrets tend to do that as their way of letting you know that something is most definitely wrong. I found it amazing that my little girl did that, but because she let us know so quickly, she is was in the early stages and currently, all is looking good for her. I hope this helps, but you need to get them to go deeper with an ultra sound to determine what might be wrong.
