To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

my ferret had hindleg weakness, and was very lethargic, and her side was enlarged i assumed it was her spleen it was a buildup of urine 4 ounces worth when they drained it she looked like a different ferret. after bloodwork was inconclusive she had an ultrasound. the next day she had surgery removed the kidney which turns out had to do with a mistake they made in her neutering they tied off her kidney. i generally assumed the worst when she went in, she was only 10 months old. she's recovered, but i agree if there is hindleg weakness your ferret probably has other issues associated with it. i'd have bloodwork done especially if shes 2 years old and an ultrasound, assuming you haven't already it will aid in the the process of figuring out whats wrong sooner.
