Ferrets do NOT get rhinoviruses, the cause of colds. That has been well established by
ferret veterinary pathology experts.

What they CAN get from you and potentially pass along are two things that people
sometimes confuse with colds:

influenza (If you have had a past exposure to one closely enough related or have had the
vaccine partly work then it can seem like a cold in you.)

bacterial sinus infections (and for those antibiotics are the approach used).

Look in the separate FHL Archives for posts containing

colds

from addresses containing

williams

Some people do use the word "cold" loosely, though, and clump bacterial sinus infections
in there even though they are very different. It's like the way that some people use the
word "stroke" loosely and throw thromboses in there rather than just plaque incidents.
