I've been watching the dosing of ferrets with prednilosone with interest as
Porthos is presently on this for lymphosarcoma. His dosing is 2.5 ml once daily
of pms-prednisolone 5mg/5ml I've noticed that there is some improvement but
considering the vein of splitting doses so that they get an am and pm dose,
should I be giving him this in 2 doses?

**Nope. The use of pred in treating lymphoma is different than in
insulinoma, and once daily is appropriate in this case. The reason for giving pred
twice or even three times daily for insulinoma is to help stabilize the blood
sugar, where the use of it in lymphoma is to damage cancer cells.**

Porthos weighs in at 2.4 lbs. My vet said that she knows that this is a lower
dose, but will increase this as needed or if adviced.

**This is a dose of about a mg per pound - which is right on, IMO, for
lymphoma. 5 mg per 5 ml, means that when you give 2.5 ml, you are giving 2.5 mg.
Now if you put the decimal place wrong and you are actually giving 0.25 ml, you
need to increase it drastically.**
