I just wanted to add that about 1 1/2 year ago, one of my older
ferrets became diabetic. This was right after the Toronto Symposium,
where Dr. Purcell talked about the good results she was getting with
glargine. One of my vets had attended the Symposium, and suggested
we try glargine (brand name Lantus). We did, and had excellent
results. Previously, my vet had never really had much luck
successfully stabilizing diabetic ferrets on the type of insulin he
normally used.

Here is a link to the Lantus website. It is expensive, but I felt it
was worth it. My Ilsa had an additional 6 months of quality life,
until her heart failed.
