Subject: [ferrethealth] Question about prostate (adrenal) problems.
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
My ferret Doogie has been to the vet regarding a recent issue regarding
difficult urination. He actually provided the vet with a urine sample
(after not peeing all day), which was clean and free of any signs of
infection. Doogie has a melatonin implant due to mild balding of tail
and muscle loss symptoms. The implant replenished his coat, and he is
the picture of health at 3.5 lbs. I am also suspicious of insulinoma,
but he is on a gravy diet 2X per day and this hasn't been an issue so
far. He is 5 years old.
So, he doesn't initially present as having adrenal problems, but his
recent prostate problems are obviously symptomatic. I am now faced
with a decision to administer lupron or surgery. I am also concerned
reading recent posts regarding his possible insulinoma and whether this
would increase any risks associated with surgery. I would really
appreciate any advice regarding these options, as I honestly don't know
which to do at this juncture. Doogie is possibly the sweetest most
loving ferret that has ever blessed a family, and we will do whatever
is necessary to give him the longest life possible.
Thanks in advance for your experiences and wisdom,
Kathleen
