I have been following the kits progress through your pictures (Thank you
very much!) and what struck me today was the ear shot at 3 weeks. It
these ferrets were going to sold through a pet store, in another week to
2 weeks they would be spayed/neutered and de-scented and removed from
their mother's care. I know that deafness is usually due to genetics
(breeding for certain colors, albinos) but what about the trauma they
are put through at the time when their hearing is just developing?
Couldn't this also contribute to some of the numbers of deaf ferrets?

[Moderator's Note:
Due to the concerted work of ferret people (See FHL and FML Archives.)
APHIS will be starting a new regulation nationally and ferrets
younger than 8 weeks of age will not be permitted to be transported
or sold when it goes into effect. That is why photos documenting
kit development have become especially important
See these:

It will be interesting to see what changes and what does not then.]
