**First, my apologies for not replying earlier - my computer has been out for
repair since Monday am.**
I did call the vet's office and ask to speak with the vet -
receptionist relayed the query and came back with "what the vet
said". This is a COMMON problem when calling a vet's office -
receptionists field client's questions.
**Common in my hospital as well - but if the client still wishes to speak to
me, they are told that I will call back if I can't get the phone right then.**
As you are a vet, if Fozzy had been presented to you with a BG of
36.9, would you have started him on such a low dosage of pred? All
the forum exchanges I've done so far with folks having more
experience than myself and with insulinomic ferrets say that a dosage
of 0.25 at 5mg/5ml is a VERY low dose.
**That is my usual starting dose for an insulinomic ferret. But I usually
catch them with BG's in the sixties or so. With one that low, I'd likely have
started higher, probably at 0.5 ml, then adjusted depending on response and
Hopefully by now he's feeling better!**
Save lives - spay or neuter your pet.
