For instance, the
ImmunoComb test is for dogs, and they say they haven't test it on
ferrets. How can I decide which test to use? I need to quantify or
semiquantify the antibodies with a method that is not so complicated
(like ELISA) because I will probably do it myself and not so
expensive, because the money will come from my pocket... And I think
all we have here is dog tests... I don't know if there are any test
for ferrets.

**There are no tests that have been validated for ferrets in the US, either.
The most accurate, and the one that has been used in other species, such as
the big cats, is the serum neutralization test. Pretty sure that's only
available in labs, though, I don't think there's an in-hospital test available that
uses that technology. I honestly don't know how the in-clinic tests that are
available here for dogs would compare to the SN results. Might be an
interesting side-study, though, I'll have to see if I can look into doing that.**

I need help from you, from your experience. And I've read on AFA's
website that there's a study now in the US that is measuring distemper
titers, so, if anybody knows what is the lab test that is appropriate,
I would really be thankful.

**We're using the serum neutralization test done at Cornell University (the
NYS Diagnostic Lab).**
