Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Adrenal again. Need input

My Vet is from France and is learning at the hospital I take my
ferrets too. He is a senior student and also said that there have
been no issues of Adrenal Disease in his country either. He has
learned a great deal about the different diseases here since he has
come and finds it quite odd that from Country to Country, the
illnesses can be so different. My ferret is currently getting Lupron
shots and I am not certain if that medication is even available to
you there. I am do for my next visit in two weeks and can ask him if
there is any thing he might advise for you. I am not sure I would be
so quick to suggest them doing surgery, only because they have never
done it and my vet said its somewhat complicated. The part he said is
complicated is that the adrenal gland is surrounded by other parts
that can easily be mistaken for an adrenal gland and taken out in
error. The other parts I refer to are mainly lymphnodes, so nothing
that would hurt the ferret if taken out, but it still leaves the
infected adrenal gland inside.
I will ask my Vet and see if he has any suggestions he can offer to
me. Others in the group might be able to offer even better solutions,
as I can only share my experience and many in this group are very
well experienced and educated in this field.
Good Luck, Irene
