Subject: [ferrethealth] Re:Partial pancreatectomy - which part?
To: <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

This morning I went back with Mimmo and his bloodlevels were perfect! He had
a partial pancreatectomy 10 days ago. My vet is now in doubt whether to
start medication immediately or to wait, as he seems to be so perfect now. I
have to observe him this week to see if he's ok. In case he decides for
medication the vet wants to start with Cortisone. I heard none of you with
that option. Only when the Cortisone stops working he wants to start on
Diazoxine. I heard many contrary ideas about this medicine. He didn't
mention Prednison.

By the way I discovered why Mimmo wasn't eating his kibble. I dropped some
of the kibble of the cat and he went crazy over them. I immediately put some
of his own kibble in front of his nose but he ignored them and went after
the catfood. It tells me how Mimmo ended up with insulinoma, he was neutered
for years on the wrong food with lots of carbohydrates. I suppose that
developed the tumor in the pancreas. Poor thing. (you know the last owner
called 'HIM' Mimi and thought it was a female, just tells you)
