Meg,

There are various things which can be hidden
so information would help figure out which ones
may be possible for your little ferret.

You say that the ferret is 2 years old.

Besides being ill and breathing hard what are the
symptoms?

What areas were x-rayed and what did the results
look like? For example, if the ferret is not defecating
were there bubbles seen? If the ferret is having
trouble breathing was the chest x-rayed? If so, was
the thymus enlarged, what shape was the heart, were
the lungs at all opaque, etc?

What were the blood test results and was the ferret
being given anything to eat when they were taken (and
if so then what was the ferret eating)?

Why did you think of IBD? Was the ferret having diarrhea?
If so, how badly, how often, color, odor? Is the ferret
dehydrated?

What does the ferret normally eat? Has the ferret played
with anything which may cause a blockage or which may
be toxic?

There really is a need for more information than you give,
so perhaps this will help you know what sort of details to
add.
