What were her symptoms when you realized something was wrong. Was she
vomiting, lethargic, not eating? A lot will depend on exactly what
you would have noticed going wrong. Did she eat at all before you
took her to get her blood work done and did they check for insulinoma.
An X-ray does not always show the things she needs to have looked at.
The first think I would suggest is possibly getting an ultra sound
done to make sure other things are looking OK. So many things are
missed in an xray that could be found in an ultrasound. If you happen
to have an actual Animal Hospital in your area where they have a
section that specializes in exotic animals (which is what they call
them here in Canada), then I would highly suggest you get her there
as soon as you can. They will do everything possible to determine
what is wrong and I know with my Shortbread, they did not give up
until they did find something. Some of the vets are not equipped with
the things they need to do a thorough investigation. I think the last
think I can suggest is to stay strong and just love her all you can
right now. You will get your answer, its just getting her into the
right hands that is important. If for some odd reason they did not
check for sugar in the blood and she seems very weak and limp, rub a
little bit of maple syrup on her gums and wait to see if she reacts
at all. I am sure the vet would have checked that, but sometimes when
we feed them just before they are taken in, the food will have given
her sugar and allowed it to look a normal when it really is not.
EIther way, I really think an ultra sound is necessary and someone
really needs to know ferrets thoroughly to at least have an idea
where to go from there. Pls keep us up to date and know you are in my
thoughts today.
