Subject: [ferrethealth] Vet's can find nothing wrong with my stinky ferret Daughter..... Please help.

Diabetes is pretty uncommon, but can happen. it is a diagnosis made primarily on a high blood sugar reading, and then correlate that by repeat and maybe urine test/ ketones, etc. Insulin ratio is used more to diagnose insulinoma, but I don't find it useful, the ones I have had with it have had low blood sugar and symptoms. With a normal to high sugar during the symptoms, insulinoma is unlikely.

It is hard with ferrets, lots of variables and xrays and routine lab tests may not pinpoint the cause.
A consult with a ferret knowledgable vet may help if the current vet is not experienced with ferrets.

What about an insulin ratio test.-She could be diabetic.
Ferret prayers sent your way.
