Oh, one other thing: my recollection is that when that
symptom was present with insulinoma it was not highly
intermittent, but rather was a common presentation.
I don't know how many have that symptom; you know
how that is -- symptoms vary among individuals -- but
it can be useful to know about just in case when a ferret
regularly has such stools, esp. if the ferret is sleeping or
resting
just a bit more or at times seeming to stop and gaze off
just a bit more (all also can be signs of early insulinoma)
Early insulinoma sometimes does need a fasting glucose
test to be found since it isn't far enough along to show
up without fasting. So, butterscotch pudding stools that
are persistent are among the things that should lead to
testing -- trying non-fasting first for safety's sake, then
fasting if the test does not show anything to be most sure.
Is it certain that the lump is not a partial blockage, BTW?
I ask because we had a ferret with GI malformations (among
other congenital deformations) who regularly got fur balls
easily due to those. They would at times also cause
irritation of his pancreas, liver and gall bladder, sometimes
greatly so.
