It is important to remember that coccidia can be hard to find. Often vets
or techs look for the more common genus instead of looking for both,
and unless there is a bloom on-going it won't be spotted so it pays to test
at least 5 times over 10 days during times with diarrhea is present.

Eimeria is the genus less often looked for in ferrets and Dr. Matti
Kiupel of Michigan State found that one of the species in that genus
was responsible for the cases of fatal bloody flux that swept some
regions and some shelters in the recent past.
