The only possible way she might have contracted coccidia is from my
little Ohio rescue and I would expect if that were the case, at least
one other of my 6 ferrets would be exhibiting symptoms of coccidia and
to date, none of them are.

**My personal experience with the ferrets from the rescue (having brought
back several different groups) was that the groups of somewhat older boys all had
it, the older girls did not, nor did any of the younger ferrets. This is
based on multiple samples run on each group, repeated for multiple days, and then
repeated a month later before they were released to new homes. Five of the
rescued kids remain in my own home, and have been teated again, also negative
(including the one older boy that I kept who was treated). The two older boys
that one of my receptionists took home have also been rechecked and are
negative at this time.

This leads me to believe that although yes, coccidia has to be considered in
the ferrets from this rescue, not all of them had it, and that the older the
ferret was, the more likely they were to have it. Also, it was very easily
treatable in the ferrets I had, as one round of treatment for ten days with Albon
cleared them completely.

Everybody had ear mites, though.**
