Subject: [ferrethealth] Firm Lump in back of ferret's thigh on rear leg - what is it?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My 7 yr old chocolate Marshall's female 'Smokey'has a long firm
irregular purple lump under the skin about 1 cm diam x 1 inch long
on the back of her thigh, centered between her butt and her knee.
It has been there for months, but doesn't seem to be growing hardly
at all. She has no other lumps that I have noticed, and it is not
tender. Her health is otherwise fine, except for being a little
more easily tired than before. She is eating/pooping/walking/playing
fairly normally, has never been sick in her whole life, and has a
check-up every year or so.
Unaware of any singular glands that large in that area that tend to
get inflamed, I have been waiting to see if The Lump gets worse,
goes away on its own (it hasn't), or if it bothers her (it doesn't).

Is this lump just something that is semi-normal in an older ferret
and that can be checked out at her next annual physical(a few months
away)if there are no changes? ...or is it something I should be more
concerned about?
