I'd definitely have the ferret vet check it.

There is a major lymph node there but I have not seen one turn purple or black (which may
look purple or blue through skin), though I have seen single nodes turn hard with localized
infections and once with a systemic infection, and more turn hard when lymphoma is
present.

There may be skin or sebaceous growths possible, too. A sebaceous cyst can look shades of
blue or purple as can melanoma.
