Ardith, I am sorry to learn that your little one did not make it.

Until now, the only ferret i have personally heard of who had a huge amount of blood vessels
to a left adrenal was our Sherman. He survived, though eventually his severe IBD took him.

The adrenal actually turned out to be healthy, but some of the blood vessels feeding it were
in bad shape and at risk of rupture so the surgery probably saved his life.

The working hypothesis is that Sherman had that problem as a rare congenital defect, but
that is just a guess. Like your little one much is not known of his earlier life. Although he
came to us as a kit is was after a ferret shelter got him covered with ticks (They stopped
counting at something like 30.) and with gangrene that resulting in having to amputate his
tail.
