Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Allergies?? puffy face, scabs, and swelling in feet
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

We have a ferret who reacts to some food colorings and some pollens with skin sores and
sometimes secondary bacterial skin infections.

In the past we had another ferret who was allergic to all poultry and removing that from
his diet greatly helped his IBD. He was find with non-poultry and with Feline Z/D which
breaks down the proteins into amino acids to make it hypoallergenic. There is a case of a
ferret with even more allergies in the archives

The stool color worries me and I think that Carafate and other treatment for possible
ulcers might be an important addition to treatment.
