I would like to know if anyone has heard or had a ferret that was diagnosed
with a Saddle Thrombosis(blood clot). I have a 4-5 yr. old little guy that
could have had it. Wednesday (1/30-08 )Nike started to drag his left hind leg.
Husband called our vet, by the time I got home 4 hrs. later, both hind limbs were
paralyzed and very cold, light pink but Cold.

**I have not seen it, but if presented with a ferret with what you are
describing, it would shoot to the top of my list. The fact that it is not common in
ferrets does not prevent it from being the case in your ferret. Thrombosis
in other areas certainly does occur in ferrets, so there is no reason why it
could not occur in that area as well.

I would likely manage this in the same manner that I did a cat with it, blood
thinners are a possibility, but more important is to find the cause (heart
disease commonly) and manage that too.**
