Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Young ferret dying of bronchitis? Help! --Mystery solved--
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Vanilla struggled for about 2 months all in all.
After she was gone, we sent her to autopsy.
The result was a bit shocking since we were prepared for lymphoma(JL),
but what she really had was acute myeloid leukemia. It had affected
mostly her liver and also the spleen and the adrenal glands.
I still have few questions, I really hope someone would have
answers or atleast some "educated guesses" for me. ;)
How common is leukemia in ferrets?
Is it usually in this young(half year old) ferrets?
Is there any evidence that this could be genetic? or that it isn't?
Any guesses?
Is there a reason we should be worried about Vanillas siblings?
Thanks!
