Subject: [ferrethealth] Baby boy losing weight and I need HELP
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My one baby was tested for Adrenal Disease just two months ago
because of the loss of fur on his tail. They sent everything out to
Tennesee and the results came back negative. Since then, he has been
eating less and losing weight. His fur has still not grown back and I
just am so worried today because even though I am hand feeding him
more food daily, he still seems to be losing weight and I cannot get
him to a vet until tomorrow. This might seem like a strange question,
but my biggest concern is that I am worried that he might collapse on
me any minute and I do not have any idea what signs to look for that
he is growing much weaker. He is till running round, although he
takes rests more now. He seems to try to back up to go to the
bathroom and does not go and then runs to other parts of the room to
try and go. I am just trying to determine what I can do to keep him
as strong as possible because it will take at least a couple of days
before the Hospital will be able to see him and I do not
want him to weaken and go down. It is more the weight issue I am
worried about right now and I have never had to deal with this yet.
The regular vet cannot help me like the specialist hospital can as
they are equipped with everything necessary to get answers, but
again, it will take at least a couple of days before they will be
able to get him in and I do not want to lose him. I might be over
reacting, as he is still running around, but he is soooooo thin at
this point and it scares me to death. My smallest ferret seems to
feel heavier then he does at this point, and he is my biggest baby
out of the 6 I have. Please help me to keep him strong and let me
know I am doing the right thing for now. Let me know if I am over
reacting and what signs are really danger signs so I can keep my eye
on him closely. You are all so much more knowledgable and I have
learned so much from reading, so I really need your help and
reassurance now. Thank you all in advance. Irene
