Irene - I have just signed on here and have been away from the ferret
community for years, but I did read your original letter and agree with Lynne that
it could be a blockage. Also, if he is running from spot to spot and rather
frantic, and aside from a blockage, it could be a prostate problem or urinary
tract infection. Both, of course, require a vet's attention pronto. If he
is not adrenal, the tail hair loss could be metabolic stress from some other
condition. His extreme thinness is a worry because you are trying to extra
feed him. Your vet should be of help here too. I do have some tips but will
hold back because I am so out of date. Hope all goes well at the vets.
