Subject: [ferrethealth] need some help with my ferrets ASAP
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

My ferret Bear, male just turned 5 in Feb. No none health issues prior.
last weekend he showed signs of not feeling well, he had yellow,
mucous poos and of course a funny stinky smell. I could also see in
his eyes he did not feel well. Lose of appetite, no temp, no vomiting
but would show signs like he was going to vomit but didnt.
I gave him a little pepto over the next couple of days to help coat
his belly. His poos did start looking better, but I could tell he
still not feel good and was not eating good. I could get him to eat a
little bit of home made duck soup, turkey baby food or carnivore care
mixed with the soup.

I took him to the vet on Tuesday, the ran a fecal test, it was
negative. They also did a CBC and everything was fine but the glucose
was really low 30. Now take into consideration that he has not been
eating well and sick so the glucose will register lower, but it is
still a sign of Insulinoma.

So the vet determined it was probably a intestinal infection and
started him on Amoxi-drops 0.5 ml twice a day. He has also started him
on this stuff called K.L.P.P. " Kam's Liquid Pet Pack. Its a
homeopathic remedy to help coat the intestines, increase appetite.
He is also on Prednisone .25 ml twice a day.

He is still no eating well, he acts like he wants to eat but after he
eats he acts like it makes him sick, but like I said he has not
vomited any. His poos are looking better, but he is not.

I am a lose on what is wrong with him. I wonder if the Prednisone is
the wrong thing for him, and if the Kam's liquid pack is not the right
thing either. Its also suppose to have probiotics in it to help too.

I am really getting worried, is there something we are missing,
shouldnt he be showing signs of feeling better, eating by now.
Any suggestions please!
