Kristy,

I also have a 4 year-old sprite Linguini, who was diagnosed with EGE
last August after exploratory surgery and biopsies of stomach, lymph
nodes, liver and intestines. I almost lost her during the surgery.

Unfortunately, she had to go for a second surgery a month later after
the incision site started herniating. Its been a long haul and she is
finally stable. She is on a combination of Innova EVO Ferret in
combination with Totally Ferret hypoallergenic and EVO 95% meat canned
Cat/Ktten food. Given the nature of this disease her diet needs to be
adjusted all the time. I have tried introducing her to a raw diet with
some wonderful advice from people on the FHL. She WILL not eat it - the
EVO 95% is the compromise and fortunately she loves it. She's on the
duck right now.

I've had lots of advice and support from Karen Douglas who owned Rinky
Dink, whose case is archived on the FHL. Something to discuss with your
veterinarian is that Artemus should not be vaccinated in future because
of his hyper sensitive immune system.

Granted Linguini is older than Arte but I can tell you it took her at
least 4 - 5 months to get back to her old self. This disease knocks the
stuffing out of these little guys and it takes a while for them to get
back on their paws. In the interim if he continues doing this well, the
sleep is probably healing. As he continues to feel better, he'll be
dooking and playing before you know it.
