Hi Sukie,

Yes, they were both treated for fleas by the vet we took them to
originally, although I don't remember what it was - a feline topical
treatment, similar to, if not Advantage. I haven't kept up with the
treatment, but fleas are not present. I've combed both ferret
thoroughly to check and cover my bases, and none were found. None of
the animal have flea dirt, and both the dog and the resident cats are
on topical protection.

It's not ringworm, as it doesn't show any of the signs of ringworm-
not the "Ring", and no real scaliness. Although a fungal skin scrape
technically wasn't done to rule this out, it's unlikely. The other
cagemate doesn't have ringworm or signs of it, none of us have it, and
the spot never spread. So, like I said, a skin scrape wasn't done, but
it's unlikely.

I absolutely know and understand ECE and coccidia and have no idea
what that was mentioned or how it's relevant. Those were already ruled
out in the case of the diarrhea- the symptoms weren't consistent with
ECE(the vet agreed with me on this), and the vet did a fecal, as
mentioned, which ruled out coccidia. I am throughly aware of both
issues, and the diarrhea they were both having was not symptomatic of
either. As mentioned, it's strongly suspected that the diarrhea was
due to inflammatory bowel (especially since I don't know what diet
they were on prior to me owning them, since they were adopted) since
it went away with a diet change.

I think you may have misunderstood me about their diet. Both ferrets
were always, at least in my possession, on kibble. When I got them
their foster mom had them on marshall ferret food, which the original
owners supposedly fed. When I got them, I kept them on marshall for a
bit before trying some other kibble brands. Each time I changed or
added a food brand, I did it gradually and waited several weeks (no
less than two) to let them adjust and see if it made a difference. So
they were always on kibble and weren't changed around frequently. We
tried Eukanuba kitten, marshall (as mentioned), totally ferret, Innova
Evo Ferret, Ferret Gold, and finally, what they are on now, Zupreem.
With the exception of the Euk. Kitten, all of the brands were ferret
foods, and known to be higher quality, so I don't think it was a
matter of a balanced diet. They had diarrhea during this ENTIRE
time(over 5 months), even on the food we were told they were fed,
until they were on Zupreem exclusively. Since then, they've been
mostly ok.It's for these reasons I suspected the diarrhea was IBD.

But yes, all of the "general" skin issues have been ruled out, and
he's happy, otherwise healthy, and normal.

I looked through the archives (but not ALL the way back) and didn't
find anything matching this skin condition, without it being some sort
of parasite or adrenal disease.

Has anyone heard of the immune-mediate skin condition I originally
referred to?
