Hi Julie - I am not clear on this....why is your Vet giving your guy pred?
Does he suspect IBD? Did he test hepatic and renal function? A treatment
of pred and amoxi could be for IBD. But what about his low glucose? Will he
re-test soon?

You might want to try Stat or Dyne cut with water and fed with infant
medicine dropper (5cc's or can fill bulb too and that comes out to about 15cc's).
I know stat has fallen out of favor (I am really out-dated having been away
from ferret community for many years) however, it still is great for
hydration, electrolytes and added nutrition for a sick ferret. And sounds to me like
he really needs hydration.

One of my 9 year olds, has IBD. She is on pred and amoxi. She was
a-symtomatic for an intestinal problem since her bowel movements appeared normal.
However, she was whimpering when she used the litterbox so I took her to the
vet. And was suprised. She continues to eat her kibble, plus chicken, etc.
that I hand out several times a day. I am also supplementing her with Gerber
turkey or chicken baby food two or three times daily as well. She doesn't like
anything added to this. For my five other old-timers, I also supplement
them with baby food mixed with ground kibble and carnivore care a few times a
day. Whatever they want, is my guide, as long as they keep eating. When I
have a really sick ferret, I will give Ringers sub-q but this should only be a
short term boost.

I took him to the vet on Tuesday, the ran a fecal test, it was
negative. They also did a CBC and everything was fine but the glucose
was really low 30. Now take into consideration that he has not been
eating well and sick so the glucose will register lower, but it is
still a sign of Insulinoma.

So the vet determined it was probably a intestinal infection and
started him on Amoxi-drops 0.5 ml twice a day. He has also started him
on this stuff called K.L.P.P. " Kam's Liquid Pet Pack. Its a
homeopathic remedy to help coat the intestines, increase appetite.
He is also on Prednisone .25 ml twice a day.
