For the most part your answers are right in the FHL Archives at

http://ferrethealth.org/archive/

which starting right about now will have 7 years worth of past posts.
(I'll have to look up the FHL anniversary date.)

The FHL Archives are very easy to use.

So are the FML Archives which will also have info for you:

http://listserv.ferretmailinglist.org/archives/ferret-search.html

What you will learn in relation to eggs and shells with be about
disease risks, biotin levels, thiamine levels.

You will notice that raw eggs whites reduce the amount of
biotin and thiamine so raw egg whites should be avoided.

You will read about disease risks from raw eggs -- luckily, ferrets
are less likely to get things like salmonella than humans but it is
extremely hard to treat when they do get it. Some other types of
bacterial food poisoning and food borne infections are more serious
usually for ferrets. So, when a ferret is between a rock and hard
place things are tried that otherwise would not be.

You will see a past post in which a ferret who apparently already
had an ulcer had pieces of eggs shell that were too large and gritty
settle into the wound and cause a bleed-out since that was where
treating vet found them on necropsy. (There is a reason to invest
in a good strainer and then re-grind the things that don't pass
through.)

You'll be happy with how complete these resources can be.

Let's see, okay, this one puts together some past posts:
