Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: Ferret has coughing/wheezing fits
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi, I have a two year old female ferret. She has been having
coughing/wheezing fits since she was about 4 mos. old. When the fits
first started, they would only last a few seconds, and then she would
go about her business like they never happened. Recently they have been
getting worse lasting over 5 minutes at a time - they happen during
various hours of the day. When the coughing/wheezing stops she acts
like nothing happened. I know it is not contagious as she has lived
with another ferret the whole time and he is fine. When it first
started, I had taken her to a vet who did radiographs and blood work
and didn't find much. I took her to another vet for a broken canine
and mentioned the problem but they were perplexed by my description of
the fits. I plan on taking her back to the vet as her symptoms appear
to be getting worse, but I was wondering if any one else has
experienced this phenomenon. Any response would be greatly appreciated -
Thanks!
