Have you been giving her anything for possible hair balls. If she
likes to like herself, there could be a build up of hairballs inside
and she is trying to cough them up, as they would irritate her. I
always mix vaseline with some ferretone and give it to the ferrets to
lick. They love it and it helps clear them up of any possible
hairballs. But I should mention that I also had one baby that did
that a lot and when taken in, ended up having an infection. She was
put on antibiotics for two weeks and it all cleared up. Have them
take a look at her lungs and make sure she does not have an
infection. They can always put her on antibiotics to see if it helps
her. You would notice a difference within a few days, but please
continue for the full time frame, as if you do not, the problem could
come back.
I hope that helps, Irene
