Subject: [ferrethealth] Was this a "screaming seizure"?
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

About 4am a week ago, we awoke to the oddest sound. It sounded like a crow or jay had gotten into the house. It wasn't what I would immediately think of as "screaming," but the ferret who was making the sound was bent backwards almost at a 90 degree angle at her shoulders. It stopped as suddenly as it started. This ferret had no history of insulinoma, so I wonder if it was a seizure, or if it might have been a stroke, or something else. Even with very quick emergency care from us (we are an hour's drive from an emergency clinic), she passed shortly afterwards, but she had another short burst of "cawing." It was a very short/quick, very harsh sort of sound, repeated quickly and often over a short period of time (a minute or less).

The reason I ask here is that I think a clearer description of "screaming seizure" in the searchable archives may be useful for someone facing the problem.

Can anyone give me a description? If this was not what I heard, can you give possible explanations for what my little girl went through? Thanks!

Debbie
