Well, personal experiences certain can vary. Ours has been that surgery by far the best.
Lupron and related drugs do become less effective over time in humans according to a past
post from a biochemist who works in the field:

I don't know if anyone has done studies on Lupron to see if that is the case for ferrets but a
life-long study on the related deslorelin is being done and I suspect it will be noted whether
that problem might exist in ferrets with that drug.
