There are some risks anywhere so I think it all amounts
to learning the risks you can learn about and minimizing
them, the same as indoors.
NO playing in puddles, streams, ponds (or indoor aquaria
for that matter) due to giardia risk.

For vulnerable animals whose health is already compromised
there is the risk of picking up avian mycobacteria (also possible
from bird droppings that come in on shoes).
Of course, be up to date on vaccinations.
