Subject: [ferrethealth] Update - Bear and Insulinoma
To: Ferret Health <ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com>

Thank you to everyone who posted responses to my email
last night. After reading what everyone had to say, I
had renewed hope. As of this afternoon, Bear is doing
so much better. I took him in to the vet this morning
and they checked his blood sugar level. It was 40 -
which is the lowest reading he's ever had. He was
doing fine at that point anyway, so we discussed
increasing the pred and making sure to give the
diazoxide as well. I think my vet is a tad on the
conservative side when it comes to the pred as he said
himself that the dose should be higher for Bear's
weight. We're going with .5ml three times a day for
this week and if that doesn't do the trick, then we'll
go ahead with .75ml three times a day. Bear hasn't
had any pawing at the mouth or drooling since midnight
last night and the diarrhea stopped this morning as
well. The vet did find enlarged lymph nodes when he
examined Bear. We discussed options there as well, as
my vet has advised that we do nothing right now as the
pred is the medicine he would give if it is lymphoma.

We are scheduled for a recheck of his blood sugar on
Saturday. Hopefully we will have a good week.

I cannot possibly thank all of you enough for being
there for me during this stressful time. I am so glad
I found this list. You are all wonderful resources
and time after time, the information I have gotten
from this list has been exactly right. Thank you so
much from me, the not as stressed out mom and from
Bear.

Michelle
