Katharine you are absolutely right! I was keeping a low profile with
all the fungus stuff being mentioned, but then you mentioned GA. I was
the one who frantically email the FHL 4 years ago this month asking for
help with Cryptococcosis.

Pebbles was diagnosed with Cryptococcosis fungal infection, and just
went to the Bridge in January 2008 after a long fight. She was one of
my first two ferrets (MFs) that I got from a pet store. Never really
outside before a lump formed on front of her throat. When removed came
back unexpectedly by Univ. of [removed] (not lymphoma as I thought) and a rare
fungal disease. The cost of meds, and blood work for titers has been
extensive -- but worth it until it finally took her. So now when
anyone seems to have a ferret with similar symptoms (that we didn't
recognize at first), I always let them know to get a blood titers
done. If caught early it can be handled better. I've been in contract
with Lisa who also had one, that was diagnosed early and seems cured --
unlike Pebbles, who never really was the same healthy girl again. But
I sure do miss our twice a day meds, and gravy time.
