We had one who looked like she had insulinoma but WAY too much of her
pre-op blood work was way too off. She turned out to have carcinoma in
her pancreas. The blood work allowed us to avoid the surgery which was
the best thing for her terminal and very challenging condition.
Another one showed NO signs of insulinoma. Blood work after pre-surgical
fasting showed the likelihood of very early insulinoma. There was just one
hard to spot tiny tumor. Without the blood work it could have been missed
that she also needed insulinoma addressed during her surgery.
Now, as to a veterinary websites by vets suggesting pre-op blood work; I
don't offhand know of any by vets which emphasize that, but vet texts would
hold more weight, anyway, so check those.
Honestly, when possible it is best to work together for a mutually agreed
upon solution.
