To expand a little, we have given 1mg (or possibly 2mg) ONE MONTH depot
for extreme cases (once or twice), when surgery could not be performed
immediately for various reasons. This "megadose" works quickly to
shrink the prostate, removing the immediate danger of a blockage. This
can be obtained over night.

When you take in strays, you can't always throw them right into
surgery. Often, there are other medical issues that must be dealt with
first.
