Subject: [ferrethealth] Clear vomit from two year old ferret
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

Hi everyone,

I have a two year old ferret who, this morning or late last night,
vomited clear fluid. I didn't see or hear when she did this, and I've
not seen her do this at any other time today. I only found it in the
cage this morning when I was letting them out for the day to play, etc.

I have four other ferrets so can't really tell how much she's eating,
as they are free-roam fuzzies while I'm at home and during waking
hours. They are caged for their safety at night and when I'm away.
They stash food also, so I couldn't tell if she ate today, because she
could be eating what she's stashed, but she did take ferret vite and
ferret lax, the latter of which I gave in case she has a blockage
starting.

She doesn't like treats like Bandits by Marshal's, but likes ferret
vite which she gets a few licks of every day as a treat. This means I
can't check to see if she'll eat anything solid for me. The others
will eat kibble out of my hand, but she just has always stashed it.

They are also beginning that season shed, or at least it looks like
the beginning stages... a bit more hair in the hammocks, etc. She
seems thinner, but not bony or emaciated, so I don't know if it's the
seasonal thing, or something else.

I was hoping perhaps that someone can give me an idea of what I should
be doing, or what I can do over the weekend before I take her to the
vet on Monday. As I mentioned, as far as I could see, she only did
this once in the cage.

Sorry this is so long, but other than just watching her and trying to
catch her eating and drinking... I'm not sure what else to do at this
point. Just wondering if I should continue administering ferret lax
just in case, or wait, or...??

Thanks everyone.

Ella
