Subject: [ferrethealth] Male ferret with enlarged spleen.
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com

A friend of mine just noticed that one of her ferrets possibly has an
enlarged spleen. He's just gaining weight around the stomach area
and no where else. I have heard of ferrets that are fine with
enlarged spleens and live out their lives like that. I myself had to
have surgery on one of my rescued babies due to an overly huge
enlarged spleen. I am so glad he had it because the vet said it was
about to burst. So, question is........... how long do you weight
before you do surgery if needed at all or/and is there any kind of
homeopathic treatment to use with this condition. Of course this is
after confirmation of an enlarged spleen on an x-ray. Also, could
there be any other kind of medical condition or problem that could
cause this? He is a male ferret between the age of 1-3 we believe.
He is in his own room where nothing could be ingested. He's eating
normally and has occasional runny poops like all ferrets do. He's
not much of a dancer so she can't go by that. Any input would be
helpful. Thanks so much in advance!!
