HI Jeff,

The stools you describe when occassional mean there is a rapid transit in
digestion.. meaning the ferrets system is not fully engaged for some
reason- can be a stress reason, or a virus, - long term there can be a
number of issues. I do suggest you take a fresh fecal sample to the vet to
have it checked to rule out illness.

Constant loose stool and diarrhea can being on rectal prolapse. It is also
possible that you are dealing with IBD (inflammatory bowel disease) which
can be a tumultuous treatment regimin. In this case a veterinary exam is
important.
