Subject: [ferrethealth] Re: can ferrets have salt
To: ferrethealth@yahoogroups.com
Salt wheels are for rabbits and rodents, period. In my municipal shelter
experience, people sometimes get confused about cage accessories such as
salt
licks/wheels because they see rabbits and guinea pigs with them and,
not knowing a whole lot about the very different biology & needs of
ferrets, they assume a ferret in a similarly sized cage should have
one, too.
On the plus side, I can't imagine a healthy, properly fed and watered ferret
being at all interested in one of
these (aside from playing with it as a toy) and he/she will most likely
eventually ignore it anyway.
